Let’s talk

When I read the book of Ecclesiastics decades ago, the writer seemed full of himself and quite morose. Now I read it and it resonates so deeply with the wisdom of the eventful and examined life.

Francis Shaeffer, also decades ago, famously asked “how should we then live?” as he contemplated the decline of the western “Christian worldview.” Today, we ask the question what even IS a Christian worldview? Who defines it?

I am one who has “deconstructed” evangelicalism, and the white American hierarchy of thought and theology, and have come out the other side with a greater love and appreciation of the universal church, and the Lord of it. God is truly so good, and condescends to the lowly and those who wait on him.

These words and (very amateur) photos I share with you are attempts to bear witness to the mercy, mystery and glory of God, and the ways he continues to show up for me. I’ll draw on local history, art, literature, and all things green. I will often post recent happenings, often from the perspective of the field I work in: violence prevention and intervention.

I talk about how we are connected but fragmented, what repair could look like and how we must push back on narratives steeped in injustice, racism, and false binaries.
